About Cosmos

Cosmos is where millions come to discover, collect, and share the most beautiful things on the internet.

We're building the future of image search. We believe artists deserve credit, images deserve context, and the people who find them deserve to know where they came from.

Millions of people use Cosmos every day, including the creative teams at Apple, Nike, A24, MoMA, Loewe, Aesop, and Spotify.

The role

We’re hiring a single Product Designer to work directly with leadership, to shape the product end-to-end.

You’ll be involved in everything we ship — from shaping ideas to getting them live.

  • Work directly with the Head of Design, Leadership and Engineering

  • Design across iOS, Android, and Web

  • Own our design system and product language

  • Set the quality bar for the product

How we work

We're a fast moving team that loves to get to the right answer in the fastest way possible. You’ll use LLMs as a thinking partner, prototype with code using tools like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, and continuously evolve how you work as the tools change.

Design and engineering are already beginning to blur. Designers shipping code should feel natural.

What your day-to-day could look like

Start with the idea
Use LLMs to think through problems, explore directions, and get to clarity quickly.

Get close to the user
Understand how creatives actually use Cosmos — where it works, where it breaks, and where it could feel magical.

Prototype fast
Use code (not just Figma) to explore interactions and make ideas real within hours.

Shape the experience
Refine flows, states, and details. Push on craft and taste.

Partner with engineers
Work directly in the build. No handoff. Stay with the work, collaborating with engineers until it’s live.

Iterate
Look at usage, retention, and engagement. Improve quickly. Ideas should move from concept → production in days, not weeks.

New York matters

We’re based in New York City — one of the most important cultural centers in the world.

Being here keeps us close to the people and ideas shaping culture.

We do our best work together, in person — sketching, debating, iterating quickly.

We’re flexible:

  • A few days a week working from home

  • Up to 10 days per year working from anywhere

But this is an in-person culture. We’re looking for someone who wants to be in the room.

We’re prioritizing people who already live in NYC, or are excited about moving here.

What we’re looking for

Not an artist — a product designer.

Someone who…

  • Thinks deeply about onboarding, retention, and engagement

  • Understands what makes products grow and spread

  • Has strong taste and attention to detail

  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and ownership

  • Pushes back when something isn’t right

and…

  • Is comfortable in Figma, and increasingly in code

  • Is actively exploring AI as part of their workflow

  • Cares about how products are experienced beyond the interface

Why this role is special

  • Real ownership — you’ll be the product design voice

  • A product people care about

  • A team that sweats craft and moves fast

  • Space to think, explore, and play

We work hard. The bar is high. But we care about enjoying the process too.

Benefits & perks:

  • Premium health, dental, and vision

  • 20 days PTO, plus company holidays, plus a 2-week winter break

  • Top-spec MacBook Pro, Apple Studio Display

  • Monthly stipend for software and tools

  • Monthly team events

  • Fully covered commute in NYC

  • Daily lunch & dinner stipend at the office

  • Optional Superpower membership

We're always looking for curious minds
to join our team.
